So I know it's been a LONG time since I've posted! I want to at least post here every so often so that I have a written account of all the changes in our life. I can't guarantee that these posts will be substantial or even entertaining but we have so many family members far away and I know they would appreciate little updates!
I'm sitting here with little Henley Kai who is now 10 weeks old! Last week he weighed in at 12 lbs 6 oz and 24 inches long. He is in the 50th percentile for weight, but the 90th percentile for height! Who would have guessed that I would produce a tall skinny child?! haha
A lot has changed with him within the last week or so. Many of you know that Henley is an eating machine! For the first 8 weeks he would literally be on the boob for 15 hours a day. It was exhausting, but at least every time he cried I would just nurse him and he would stop crying. Starting last week he will eat for 15 minutes and then be done usually for 3 hours or so. At first I was excited, but now if he cries he doesn't necessarily want the boob. That's a little sad for me actually. :( The plus side is that he has a ton more active awake time. He is way more interactive. He started smiling a month or so ago, but he is now starting to laugh which just melts my heart! He also loves to talk and make noises. He will mimic my mouth if I get close to him and make different shapes and noises with my mouth. He can also just get his hands in his mouth and he grabbed a rattle for the first time a few days ago. He is also getting better at taking naps. For the first month he would not take a nap! He would be up from 7am until about 9pm. Luckily, he sleeps pretty well through the night. He wakes up a few times to eat, but since we co-sleep I don't even have to move. :)
He loves to go for strolls through the neighborhood. Since I am really into baby-wearing I have been using the Ergo carrier for weeks and he would be good for about 20 minutes and then cry until we got home. One day I tried out our stroller (that we don't use often) and he loved it! I think it's because he can see the trees and the sky and I can talk to him and he can see my face. Once he's a little bigger I can leave more of his head out in the Ergo and he might like it better?
One of his favorite days of the week is bath day! He will go from fussy to elated in .5 seconds once he hits the bath! I wish I could put some pics in but we always take baths together so they aren't really appropriate for this blog. haha
Here's a few pics:
This him at 2 months old! Look at that belly!
Cute laughs with Grandpa!
Smiley boy!
We love you all and I'll try and post more soon!
P.S I'm still trying to get around to Thank You notes! I am so behind. I was not expecting to be nursing so much! Thank you all so much for all your support, we do really appreciate it!
