10 Month Update

Henley 10 Month Update

How long can you keep calling your baby a baby? I am already starting to feel like Henley isn't really a baby anymore.  He is acting and looking more like a little person these days. He has always had a big personality and I am learning so much more about him everyday. I can tell you that he is still a big mamas boy. He is just so sweet and cuddly with me. My goal to myself is to try and get a little time away, but it's hard to do that without feeling incredibly guilty! At the moment, Alex is trying to get him down to sleep and I am just dying to go in there. In the long run I do think that it will be good for him to spend quality time with others and it will give Alex and I some flexibility to have some alone time together.

Here's a rundown of Henley at 10 months:

-Weight: Around 21-22 lbs. I haven't actually weighed him for a couple weeks.
- Hair: Still blonde and growing in more and more in the back. There are definitely some curls there!
- Eyes: Still blue. We actually get a lot of comments about how deep blue his eyes are.
- Sleep: Sleep is still difficult. He just has so much energy and fights sleep. We are getting a few naps in the bed and in the car during the week. He is still waking every 2 hours to nurse.
- Food: He is mostly just eating anything that we eat. At the moment, he loves yogurt. I also make muffins stuffed with tons of veggies and he loves those.
-Babble: He is saying Mama for sure but only when he is upset. I can't wait until he says it in a happy way! He may have said Dada once but still not sure.
- On the move: He is still a crawling machine. He can walk pretty well if we hold onto one of his hands. He can pull himself up to stand just using a wall and walk along it.
- Playtime: He loves to throw balls, read books, "walk" around the house, play in the fridge, pull things out of drawers, find hidden blocks, bubbles, playing in the dirt and leaves and just crawling around.
- Hates: Going to sleep without mom, getting strapped into his car seat, mom walking away from him, and diaper changes.

Pulling clothes out of the drawer...and he puts them back in!
I can't believe that we are only weeks away from his first birthday. In some ways I feel like I just had him, but I also can't remember a time that I wasn't his mom. It's strange how it works out that way. I am looking forward to our first Halloween together next month, and doing all sorts of fall activities. Bring on the pumpkin stuff!

Nana's Birthday Bash

Most of our little family took a road trip down to San Diego this past weekend for Nana's 94th birthday celebration. Tegan was lucky enough to be able to spend the weekend with Grandpop, Granny D, Uncle Einster, and Aunt Aya. Alex was able to get a half day on Friday, so we planned a leisurely nap-filled drive. Boy were we wrong! Due to frantically trying to pack the morning of, Henley barely got any sleep before the trip. I was hoping he would sleep the entire way to San Diego, but instead he slept 40 minutes! We didn't even make it to Brea before he woke up! We dropped Tegan off and sang songs, watched movies, got snacks, etc for a whopping 40ish minutes until we made it to Mission Viejo. We stopped for some much need Starbucks, a crawl in the grass and a diaper change.
Super Dad. He actually pooped 2 minutes after this change.
We were optimistic that he would nap the rest of the way. We are always so hopeful! haha Well we drove for another 40 minutes with no sleep, and then we hit rush hour down in San Diego. So we pulled off to University Town Center for some dinner and relaxing. Henley may have slept for a total of 1 hour all day, but he was in a great mood being out of the car.
He loves fountains!

Dinner at Veggie Grill
We finally made it down to the hotel around 9 pm. We started the trip at 12:30. What a day! When we got to the room we immediately put Henley down to stretch out his legs and figure out what we needed to baby-proof.  After 5 minutes of crawling, this is what he looked like:

We nicely asked the front desk to mop our floor. :) And then we had some quiet nursing time before finally falling asleep.

Nana's birthday picnic was held at Shelter Island in Point Loma. The park was beautiful and it was nice to see so much family. Many people hadn't yet met Henley, and I want to expose him to as much family as possible. Nana gave an amazing speech and many people told stories about Nana throughout the years.  We discussed doing this again in ten years at Nana's 104th birthday!
See I told you...Super Dad.

Nana can always make Henley laugh.

We spent more time at Nana's house before leaving Sunday afternoon. I'll spare the details, but the ride home was a much nicer experience. Overall it was a great weekend filled with wonderful people, tasty food and beautiful places. Henley is one lucky boy!

This kid should be a model..am I right?

Henley's Amazing Adventures: A 2 Week Re-Cap

All of a sudden I realized that my little baby is turning into such a little man! Here is a quick recap of Henley's amazing adventures over the past 2 weeks.
I don't know when he learned to climb stairs since we don't have any at our place. Two weeks ago we let him loose at Grandma and Grandpa's house, and before we knew it he was up the stairs!
I guess the play table alone just wasn't good enough for this climbing monster.
I keep finding him checking himself out in the mirror. Sometimes he even tries to punch himself through the mirror. And yes, that is Tegan's toy. They each prefer the other one's toys.
He has recently become infatuated with the bookshelf and everything on it. It may be time for some reorganizing. You will also find unopened baby-proofing supplies in that pile. Oops!
Taking a little "Henley time" in the park.
Sitting on Dad's shoulders like a pro!
I love my boys so much!

It's crazy that all these big milestones have happened in the course of 2 weeks! I am so proud of my little man, who just happens to be taking a nap in the bed by himself right now!

I also just want to send a shout out to my amazing husband who has been working super hard these past 2 weeks due to school starting. He is such a trooper!
